ĭuring the Xbox 20th Anniversary event that was held on November 15, 2021, FPS Boost was made available for twenty-six more titles. These titles included Dishonored: Definitive Edition, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition, Fallout 4, Fallout 76, and Prey. On March 15, 2021, not long after the completed acquisition of Bethesda, five titles developed by the studio received FPS Boost enhancements. Over the next few months more titles would be added to support the feature. Initially only five titles supported FPS Boost, these included Far Cry 4, New Super Lucky’s Tale, Sniper Elite 4, UFC 4, and Watch Dogs 2. FPS Boost was made available to users via a system update released the following month. The feature was announced on Februvia a blog post on Xbox Wire. Because there are higher graphics requirements to enable FPS Boost, the resolution for some games has to be reduced in order for the title to run smoothly and play great, if this is the case for a FPS Boost supported title, the feature will be switched off by default. The feature is able to work on Xbox Series X and S consoles by using the increased CPU, GPU and memory included in the consoles.įPS Boost features are enabled by default for most titles that it supports, however these improvements can be switched off by navigating to the compatibility tab which can be found in the Manage game and add-ons screen. The feature uses a variety of different methods to to nearly double the frame rate on select titles with little to no input needed from the games original developer. Icon that displays when a game is using FPS BoostįPS Boost is a feature available for select Backwards Compatible titles on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles that increases the frame rate in older games.
